## What Botox does

Botox is a botulinum toxin treatment that temporarily reduces activity in selected muscles. In cosmetic use, it can soften certain facial lines linked to expression. It works differently from dermal fillers, which are used to add volume.

## Start with your goals

Tell Tara which lines concern you and what you would like to preserve about your expression. Assessment and treatment planning should account for your facial movement, health history and preferences. The discussion comes before decisions about injection sites or treatment amount.

## Questions about results and follow-up

Ask when you can expect to notice a change, when results would be assessed and what a follow-up visit would involve. Results vary by person and treatment area. Your consultation is also the place to discuss future maintenance.

## Understand the procedure

Discuss preparation, aftercare and possible side effects, including bruising and temporary eyelid or brow drooping. Rare serious effects can occur. Share pregnancy or breastfeeding status, medications and prior reactions before treatment.

Is Botox the same as filler?

No. Botox acts on muscle activity. Filler is used to add volume. An assessment can help you understand which approach, if either, fits your goals.

Can I discuss a subtle result?
